Ladies and Gentlemen We Have Our Winners!

Thursday, April  14th and Thursday April  23rd  2016  Cheers hosted our two annual spring wine tasting events.  They were very fun evenings with six vendors on hand, each with six wines available to sample. You can see the wines we tasted here. As always, the event was well attended and a good time was had by all. A few lucky raffle winners left with some fabulous prizes. Christie Farrell from Bourget Imports will feature the following selections:

Gateway Vinho Verde

A flowery, focused nose of ripe pears and green apples. It is clean and fresh with vibrant acidity that makes the mouth water. Light body with a slight effervescence keeps the wine bright and lively while crisp flavors of juicy green apples and balanced acidity give structure to the wine. The lower alcohol content makes this a perfect white to serve as an aperitif.

Heinz Eifel Spatlese Riesling

An elegant Riesling that offers a palate of different stone and tree fruit notes such as peach and apricot.  Luscious and full-bodied with a long and fresh finish.  Always an award winning Riesling!

Mont Gravet Rosé

100% Cinsault, A wonderfully fresh and fruit forward dry Rosé wine. The wine has lovely aromas of raspberry and blackberry and is full body and long on the palate.

Chateau Guilhem Chardonnay

Made from 100% Chardonnay, this area is very different from the rest of Languedoc with its cooler climate. The higher elevation makes for higher toned aromatics in white varietals. This Chardonnay is made with no oak and fermented in stainless steel to capture fruitness and express apple and yellow plum flavors.

Les Dauphins Cotes du Rhone

Complex yet affordable, this classic Côtes du Rhône is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre grapes. Its aromatic palate of bold, ripe fruit gives way to a spicy earthiness with every sip. Nice acidity with relaxed tannins means this red is ready for any food pairing you dish up.

Paris Valley Road Cabernet:

Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with soft Merlot for a balanced mouth-feel while adding Cabernet Franc for aroma and Malbec for color. This blended wine has layers of complexity with a good balance of tannin and acidity. Aromas of plum, maraschino cherry and sweet tobacco are complimented by a rich roasted coffee bean and cocoa powder finish.

Bill Anderson from Paustis Wine will feature the following selections:

Bogle Old Vine Zinfandel

Vibrant, ripe notes of summer raspberry and plush, round flavors of pomegranate meld with fresh cracked peppercorn, juniper and anise.  Playful and serious at the same time, the mouth-coating tannins relax into a smooth and supple finish: long, lingering and full of enjoyment.

3 Pears Pinot Grigio

With perfumes of fresh cut pear and pippin apple, this Pinot Grigio has ample peach and lush pear flavors, rounded into a honeyed-sweet and crisp finish.

Pomelo Sauvignon Blanc

Aromas of fragrant orange blossom, ruby grapefruit, and white peach flavors set on a light body with pops of lime zest and passion fruit.  Bright, clean and flavorful.

Wente “Morning Fog” Chardonnay

Crisp flavors of green apple and tropical fruit, balanced by subtle oak, cinnamon and vanilla from barrel aging.  With a mouth-filling body and balanced acidity, this wine delivers a medium-long, refreshing finish.
