Located high on Napa Valley’s Howell Mountain, Ladera produces outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, as well as exclusive limited releases. This tasting event will take place in the club room at Rare Steak & Sushi located in the Life Time Athletic Club, 755 Prairie Center Drive, Eden Prairie, Minn. As of the posting of this article, there were only five spots left for this event, so book your spot here today before it sells out!

Here is a a preview of the wines we will taste

2013 Sauvignon Blanc

Ladera Sauvignon Blanc expresses refreshing aromas of passion fruit, honeydew melon and spiced pear with underlying notes of lemongrass and citrus zest that add to the wines appeal. The palate is pure and focused with a lively underlying acidity leading to a long and persistent finish.

Vineyard Notes:

Sauvignon Blanc is a blend comprised of three Sauvignon Blanc clones: Clone #1, Sauvignon Musque and Liparita. These three selections offer unique differences in style, all with inherent varietal distinction. The vintage was a text book growing season, with warm summer days offering an abundance of sunshine from start to finish. Healthy vines and lower than average yields allowed for slow and steady maturation of the grapes, producing wines with intense fruit expression, pronounced depth and great balance.

2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes:
The 2012 vintage was a text book growing season, with warm summer days offering an abundance of sunshine from start to finish. Healthy vines and lower than average yields allowed for slow and steady maturation of the grapes, producing wines with intense fruit expression, pronounced depth and great balance.

The 2012 Ladera Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon displays ripe fruit aromas of blackberry and black currant with spice notes of cassis and fresh clove. The intense palate is pure and structured packed with black fruits and supple tannins that extend through the wine’s finish.

Vineyard Notes:
The 2012 Ladera Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from an ever changing array of select vineyard blocks. Each site compliments one another offering differences in clones, soil and micro-climates, that when blended result in a consistently rich, complex wine with striking aromas and intense fruit expression.

To this we then add just the right amount of other blending varietals to end with a very approachable but still intense wine. Picking for this vintage occurred between October 5th and October 23rd.

2011 Stile Blocks

The 2011 Ladera STILE Blocks Cabernet Sauvignon displays classic characteristics of cooler vintage conditions with heightened fruit aromas, elegant structure and lively acidity making it an approachable wine in its youth but also with great age ability.

Fresh fruit aromas of black currant, plum and anise are supported with subtle notes of graphite and fresh mint. The medium-bodied palate is layered with red and black fruits, plush texture with fine-grained tannins and balanced.

Vineyard Notes:

The 2011 Ladera STILE Blocks Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced exclusively from our Estate vineyard on Howell Mountain. The STILE Blocks illustrate a unique aspect of our vineyard, carefully selected to arrive at the profile we envisioned. The vineyard ranges from 1,600 to 1,800 feet in elevation and sits above the typical fog line receiving longer sun exposure during the growing season producing wines with great structure and exceptional aging potential. A combination of the high elevation, the volcanic and red clay soils and a commitment to excellence, the fruit is able to achieve full physiological ripeness keeping with the other wines from Ladera…Hillside, Intense.

2010 Howell Mountain Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Vineyard Notes:

The 2010 Ladera Howell Mountian Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced exclusively from our estate vineyard located directly opposite the winery at 1,600 to 1,800 feet in elevation, the red volcanic mineral rich soils allows the fruit to achieve full physiological ripeness producing ripe flavorful winesw with great structure and exceptional aging potential. Harvest began on October 19th and finished on October 25th 2010.

Winemaker Notes:

The 2010 Ladera Howell Mountian Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the best our vineyard has to offer. Rich and decadent, this deep ruby Cabernet Sauvignon displays gorgeous aromas of ripe blackberries and black cherries with notes of fresh mint, cocoa, vanilla and nutmeg. The concentrated and well-structured palate is rich and pure with ripe black fruits, firm yet supple tannins, and a refreshing beam of acidity that carries through to a long and persistent finish.

2012 Pillow Road vineyard Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes:
The 2012 Pillow Road Pinot Noir exhibits the quality of this amazing vintage. Lush aromas of fresh raspberries and red cherries are highlighted by notes of cola and cinnamon spice. An elegantly balanced wine, the palate is soft and seamless with bright red fruit, sweet supple tannins and juicy acidity – Classic Russian River.

Vineyard Notes:
The Pillow Road vineyard is located in the Russian River Valley of West Sonoma County, southwest of the city of Sebastopol in an area affectionately known as the Sebastopol Hills. Previously identified with Gravenstein apple orchards and counter culture lifestyles, it is now known as a premium Viticultural region renowned for producing world class Pinot Noir. Famous for its Goldridge soils, large temperature swings and sweeping morning fog the vines at Pillow Road thrive in ideal climatic conditions that produce exceptional wines capturing the best expression of this unique vineyard.

The first plantings were in 2000 to Pinot Noir clones 777, 115 and 4 with more recent plantings of Calera and Swan. The different clones complement one another in the final blend, offering bright fruit tones with elegance, depth and structure.
