This sparkling wine is produced in the Piedmont region. spe Specifically, the morainic hills of Serra, Viverone, Province of Biella. This spectacular Brut is produced with Trebbiano grapes.  It has an intense pale yellow color with golden highlights.

The bouquet is full, candidly intense, hints of freshly baked bread with a final scent of honey and hazelnut. Notably balanced, full-bodied and full of flavor; persistent almond finish.

Terredora Di Paolo Falanghina

Aged on its lees in stainless steel, but sees no oak. Pale yellow color with a rich and intense aroma of fruit with hints of apple, pineapple, bquince and pear.  Fresh and clean in the mouth with excellent acidity, good structure and a floral finish. The tannins and fresh acidity work in counterpoint to create a balanced, smooth wine.

Pecchennino Dolcetto di Dogliani

The color is ruby red with violet highlights. The bouquet is fruit-forward with notes of currants, raspberries, blackberries and prunes. The flavor is well-balanced with sweet tannins and good acidity. This wine pairs well with appetizers, pastas, white meats, red meats.

Colpetrone Sagrantino di Montefalco

Sagrantino is a native varietal of Umbria, which, according to some, was brought to the region by Franciscan monks centuries ago. Intense ruby red.  Ample nose of red fruit with spices and a subtle hint of vanilla.

Well-structured with concentrated tannins in its youth. Suitable for roasts, game and aged cheeses.

Damilano Cannubi Riserva 2008

Cheers : The Votes Have Been Counted, The "Best In Show" Results Are In!

Posted by Phil on 2015/11/13 13:44:04 (834 reads)

Ladies and Gentlemen "Your Best In Show!"

Thursday, November 5th and Thursday November 12th 2015   Cheers hosted our two annual holiday wine tasting events.  They were very fun evenings with six vendors on hand, each with six wines available to sample. You can see all the wines we tasted here. As always, the event was well attended and a  good time was had by all. A few lucky raffle winners left with some fabulous prizes!

Once again we asked our guests to vote on their favorite white and red wines. As promised, we put all ballots into a bag, shook 'em up and selected two random winners, one from each event.  The winners receive one bottle each of the best in show wines from the evening they attended. Our winners have been contacted, and (as of this posting) will pick up their wines soon.  Thank you all for enjoying the evenings with us.  Thank you also for participating in the best of show voting.

For the most part the winners were, “hands down." However, the winning red was a winner at BOTH Bloomington and Chanhassen! That’s a first. The whites ran a little closer with the winner in Chanhassen squeaking out the win by one vote. Next week we will post a more thorough accounting of the winners but for now… (Cue the music)…

Here they are, your Best In Show!

Best In Show White Wine, Bloomington

Mark Nordstrom- The Wine Company

Pichot Vouvray 100% Chenin Blanc

From the Loire Valley in France, fantastic aroma of spice, pear and a hint of honey showing a little chalkiness with an elegant finish.

Best In Show White Wine, Chanhassen

Derek Lindquist- Wine Merchants

Astoria Sparkling Moscato , Italy

Fine and persistent bubbles with straw yellow and greenish reflections. The wine is delicately sweet with a basis of fresh fruit flavors of peach, pear, and apricot balanced with gentle notes of white petals and sage. The finish is balanced and well rounded.

Best In Show Red Wine, Bloomington AND Chanhassen

Michael David Freakshow Cab

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Lodi, this delicious, dense purple-colored wine possesses plenty of crème de cassis, licorice, spice box and cedar notes in a medium-to-full-bodied, supple, explosively fruity, fruit-bomb style.
