How can you quickly chill wine?

Finally, the weather is breaking, and before long it’ll be time to start enjoying chilled wine! One of the most common questions I hear in the warmer months is, “Do you have one of those instant wine chillers?” Cheers does not use a “point of sale wine Chiller" because to be honest, they are a scam. Last time I talked to a vendor hawking one of those he revealed that the idea of the in store wine chiller is to “keep the consumer in the store, maybe they’ll buy another bottle"...While that tactic may work at some places it simply is not “the Cheers Way”.

Quickly chilling a bottle of wine is actually a pretty simple and easy process and it can be done in the comfort of your own kitchen here’s what you do:

Grab a bucket and plant your bottle in the center, add a layer of ice around the base of the bottle and cover the ice with a few tablespoons of salt; keep repeating, alternating layers of ice and salt until the bucket is full. Now fill the bucket with cold water. The salt will drop the temperature of the water well below freezing, providing you with the rapid cooling you need. Give the bottle a few gentle spins every few minutes to help even out the cooling effects. Your wine should be ready to pop in 15 minutes.
