Be sure to stop by Cheers Bloomington this friday December 10th between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. we will have a representative on hand tasting two excellent beers from Belgium; Hoegaarden and stella artois!
Here is some information about the beer, however to get the full effect we’ll see you Friday from 5-8 in Bloomington
Hoegaarden (pronounced whogarden) is a white beer brewed in Belgium.
The brilliant white beer is brewed to a traditional recipe which dates as far back as 1445, although the beer Hoegaarden has only existed since 1966. Hoegaarden gets its great taste partly due to there being special ingredients added during the brewing process, such as - wheat, coriander and curacao orange peels. Also the pale, cloudy appearance of this mysterious looking drink is all thanks to an additional second fermentation in the bottle.
Stella Artois is brewed in Belgium and the United Kingdom, as well as other countries, including Australia, Brazil and Ukraine. The Anno 1366 on the Stella Artois logo refers to the origin of brewing in the city of Leuven. The city's tax records dated 1366 mention the existence of a local brewpub called Den Hoorn, ('Hoorn' in Dutch meaning 'Horn' in English, as is represented in the logo on the beer label). The name Artois was coupled to the brewery in 1708, when new owner Sebastian Artois achieved the title of master brewer. The frame that surrounds the name Stella Artois on the label refers to the traditional style of window frame found in Flemish architecture.
We have our winners!
Cheers Chanhassen held the annual wine tasting event on Thursday November 11th. As always it was well attended everyone had a great time as they got some quality time with a selection of wine focused on holiday entertaining. This year we did something a little different, we asked our guests at the tasting to vote for their favorite wines of the evening, one red and one white that they considered to be the “best in show”. We tallied the votes and we our winners.
The winner of the red category is:
Apothic Red -
A captivating blend of three distinct grapes, with the dark fruit flavors of Syrah, brambly spice of Zinfandel, and a smooth elegance of Merlot.
Apothic Red reveals intense fruit aromas and flavors of rhubarb and black cherry that are complemented by hints of mocha, chocolate, brown spice and vanilla. The plush, velvety mouthfeel and smooth finish round out this intriguing, full-bodied red blend.
And the winner in the white category is:
The Naked Grape Pinot Grigio - Pinot Grigio
Light-bodied, crisp white wine with aromas of pear, lemon and honey.
